Fact: Derrion Albert, a high school honor student in Chicago, was murdered on his way back home on September 24th, making headlines everywhere. Accordingly to the Associated Press, this is not the first murder of it’s kind. In 2008, more than 30 students were killed. (Via Esfac'e Blog)
To You and our Youth Worldwide:
Why can't we see that we are fighting the wrong war? This is something that kills me inside. I really can't seem to wrap my mind around the reason why we are still at war with our own people. It's bad enough to see humans killing humans and cops killing black youth but, black youth killing our own people? We are all humans, we all share this land; we must learn to appreciate what we do have and live together. Ask yourself when you go to sleep tonight... Is it worth it? Better yet, ask the man above bc your answer scares me. Is this the way you want to live the rest of your life? Is it all worth it to you? Why is it that we can't see the big picture?
We have a hard time understanding that we are in control of our own destiny. We are so concerned with the acceptance of society, our neighborhood, our set, our peers, the ones that don't mean anything. The opinion of the next man should never be the driving force behind any thought, action or belief of anyone. It's time we begin to take ownership of our individual capacity for greatness. In this life we can not afford to be wasting time. We are killing ourselves at a time when we are at our weakest...
I could easily not say anything about this and just write it off as a lost hope but, this shit is unbearable beyond belief and something must be done. For, if you silence yourself in times like these, you are no part of the solution you are a direct part of the problem, condoning the very activity that is killing our people. I am challenging each and every person who reads this post to be active in promoting PEACE, UNITY & PROGRESS amongst humanity. Whether you are walking around with a smile on your face when it hurts inside or you are the one in the streets talking to our youth and offering them an alternative lifestyle. We can all play a part somehow; and it starts with the man in the mirror. At the very least, I challenge you to lead by example and spread the COOL. In order to spread the COOL we must all stay COOL ourselves. We must all keep a positive attitude about life, even when the world is trying to tear us down, we must stay COOL at all times.
This Just Be COOL. campaign is not about selling merchandise to make a profit; it is not about promoting our friends music behind some fun COOL marketing campaign. It's about making a difference. Spreading hope and the gift of discernment to all who are lost and searching. JUST BE COOL is a campaign designed to redefine the word COOL. Because apparently, our youth are misguided into thinking that this is what's cool nowadays.
We need your help. We need your help in spreading the COOL, the new definition of COOL: Keeping a positive attitude about life and a world of peace, unity and progress. In order to spread this COOL positive mentality you must first adopt this definition as thee definition, as your definition. You must then remind yourself daily to Be COOL. Your COOL will soon be radiated from your pores and you will soon begin to change lives without any conscious effort. Try this for one day, and get back to me. Let me know if you see or feel a difference.
It is up to us to make a difference while we have the opportunity to affect change. The time is now, we must act and we must act now...
Be COOL,
FredMac.
